- Mr. Worthington grew up in the family oilfield business in Kilgore, Texas and worked three years as an Engineer for Marshall Petroleum, Inc. in Midland/Odessa and Houston after graduating from Texas A&M University and before entering law school in 1984.
- Mr. Worthington's legal career began in Houston before returning home to East Texas. He subsequently joined Brown McCarroll when they opened their Longview office in 1994. Mr. Worthington joined Coghlan Crowson, LLP in April 2000.

Mr. Worthington has handled claims involving personal injuries and/or property damages arising from alleged exposure to silica, asbestos, chlorinated solvents, lead, arsenic, CCA, mercury, hydrocarbons, diesel exhaust and other occupational and consumer exposures. He has provided representation for major automobile manufacturers, industrial equipment manufacturers, truck manufacturers, medical device manufacturers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, consumer appliance manufacturers, electric utility companies, recreational vehicle manufacturers, and boating manufacturers in strict liability, breach of warranty, negligence, deceptive trade practices, and wrongful death actions throughout Texas and Southwestern Arkansas. He has represented local health care providers in medical malpractice claims against hospitals, nursing staff and other medical professionals.
